Little Gypsy Interview: The Fielder Folk

Your instagram @thefielderfolk_ has some gorgeous pics of your little tribe.

So....who are The Fielder Folk?

We are a young family living in Brisbane bayside. My name is Tahlia and I'm 24 years old. Im married to my best friend Jesse, and together we have a beautiful, wild daughter Summer (or sunny as I like to call her), who is 15 months. We love spending time by the bay, playing with our gorgeous border collie puppy Luna, shopping at local fruit markets and cooking healthy and nutritious meals.

What 10 words would you use to describe your little fambam?

  1. Wild
  2. Strong
  3. Passionate
  4. Compassionate
  5. Driven
  6. Creative
  7. Bohemian
  8. Silly
  9. Loving
  10. Sarcastic

Your little tribe has some amazing style! Who are your influencers and what are some of your favourite brands?

We have so many favourites but I really love stalking the Spell & Gypsy Collective and @theselfstyler for fashion inspiration for myself. I adore dressing Summer and I get a lot of inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram. I dress Sunny in a lot of different styles from girly to boho and everything in between. I really love shopping small and supporting small businesses. A couple of my favourite brands for Summer are Yoli and Otis, Little A Handmade, Adelyns Creations and of course Willow and the little Gypsies.

Have you always lived in Brisbane?

My husband Jesse and I both grew up in Brisbane. We met in high school and have been together ever since.

Fave hangs in Brisbane…

I love hanging out at Soul Pantry Cafe it's a mix of Cafe, nursery, gift store all in one. It just has an incredible vibe. I always feel refreshed when I leave. Another great hang out if you're from the Gold Coast is the Craft Parlour. It's honestly such an incredible space where you can go and learn a new skill and hang out with some gorgeous souls.

  • Best Café for breakie: this is a tough one because I love trying new places and my favourites always changing. You can't go wrong with Rabbit Hole Cafe in Wynnum it's definitely a local fav. The food is always on point and the service is great.
  • Favourite Park: Pizzy Park at Miami has the most beautiful pine cone forest which is so much fun to explore. Even though we live in Brisbane we spend a lot of our time down the coast.
  • Date night with hubby:Its been a while since I've had a date night with hubby but it would go a little something like this… a peach belini, Italian at our local, followed by gelati and a movie at home.
  • Fav market:The Village Markets at Burleigh is definitely my favourite market. There is no better way to spend a Sunday then listening to live music and shopping small at all the gorgeous unique boutiques.

  • Takeaway coffee: Campos Coffee James Street Fortitude Valley by far has the best coffee!

  • Best place to go for quick weekend away: it would be a hard choice between Byron and Maleny Sunshine Coast Hinterland. I think Maleny wins though, there's nothing better than switching off in a place that has no cell reception! Maleny definitely has a special place in my heart. I grew up going on family holidays to Maleny. We stayed at local farms milked the cows and rode the horses. Jesse and I also got married up there at the same venue my mum got married at 12 Years earlier. We have a dream to pack up and move up there with our tribe one day. We crave that small country town life.

Tell us about your beautiful wall hangings….how did you learn fibre art and when did you start your gorgeous business Willow & the Woolves?

I started Willow and the Woolves just after I had Summer. I was a stay at home mum at the time. One day I just came across a YouTube channel teaching how to make a woven wall hanging and I was sold I made one for Summer and posted a photo and it got lots of interest. I found weaving really relaxing. I couldn't believe how many people where interested in my product and the orders havnt stopped coming in since. I honestly feel so grateful for every order I get it's pretty amazing knowing you are creating something special for someone's home.

Name your top 3 favourite instagram accounts?

-@Christinesimplybloom ( her dreamy girly/bohemian pictures inspire me daily. I adore her home and Christine has such a creative soul.

-@Blossom.and.boheme Bethany from Blossom and Boheme doesn't know it but she's totally my Mum Crush ! She's so funny and honest, her snap chats are so real and I love her sense of style.

-@foxmeetsbear I love Johnnas view on the world, her photos are dreamy and creative but most of all I love the way she raises her children, so soft, gentle and kind.

Where is your dream holiday destination?

Oia, Santorini, Greece. Before Jesse and I settled down and had Summer we went on a month long European holiday. We visited France, Greece and Italy. We had the most amazing time. They say travel changes you and they couldn't be more right. There was something so special about Oia Santorini if you haven't been there yet pop it on your bucket list.
